Frequently Asked Questions

When choosing custom shutters or closet doors for your property, there are many questions you may have! Here are a few of the questions we get on a monthly basis to help you.  If you don't see an answer to a question, please give us a call! Our friendly staff will answer any question or concerns you may have.

What kind of wood do you use?
We use kiln dried, North American, Basswood as well as other high quality furniture grade hardwoods.

What is basswood?
Basswood, also known as Linden Wood, is found in the northeast and Canada. Basswood is a light in color, straight grained hardwood. Basswood is very stable and resistant to warping, making it ideal for shutters.

Do you manufacture your shutters?
Yes. We purchase the highest quality kiln dried lumber and components and manufacture our own shutters in our factory in El Cajon, Ca. so that we can control every quality detail.

Do you make specialty shutters?
Yes. We can make shutters for just about any shape or size window, including Arches, Circles, Ovals, Octagons, French doors etc.

Do you do patio doors?
Yes. We manufacture shutters for sliding glass doors. We do bi-fold panel shutters that open just like a regular shutter and we also make bi-pass track in which one panel slides behind the other, similar to a wardrobe closer door.

Do you do stained shutters?
Yes. We have many popular stock stain colors to choose from.

Can you custom match a stain color?
Yes. We can custom match to a sample which you provide for us.

Can you custom match a paint color?
Yes. In addition to our 5 popular stock paint colors, we can match any custom color from your sample.

Do you measure and install your shutters?
Yes. Your price quote includes a re-measure and installation. After you sell a shutter job, we send a field service technician out to do a re-measure. Once the manufacture of your shutters is complete, our professional installation crews can do the installation.

Why are you charging me sales tax?
The California State Board of Equalization requires that we collect sales tax on any shutter job in which WE install.

Do you repair or repaint shutters manufactured by other companies?
No.

Why are wood shutters superior to plastic shutters?
There are many reasons why we feel wood shutters are superior to plastic shutters.

Just a few of the reasons are:

1.) Wood shutters have been around for hundreds of years and have stood the test of time. It is not unusual to see shutters 30 or more years old that look as good as the day they were installed. No plastic shutter can make that claim.

2.) Flexibility of design. Wood shutters can be manufactured in just about any shape, size, color or configuration imaginable to meet your customer's specific needs. Plastic is limited in size, shape and color.

3.) Service of your shutters in the future. If your wood shutters are damaged, a new component can be fabricated to match any style and finish. It may be difficult to find a component to match the style and color of a plastic shutter.

4.) Unlimited choice of paint and stain colors. Plastic usually offers a very  limited choice of colors.

  5.) Best Quality, Best Value.
